A STORE employee died following a motorcycle accident in Victorias City, Negros Occidental around 8 p.m. Thursday, May 12.

Killed was Lida Arevalo, 37, of Hacienda Riverside in the city's Barangay 11, Victorias Police Station chief Colonel Joseph Fajardo Jr. said.

Her son-in-law, Richard Dela Cruz, 37, was also injured during the accident, Fajardo said.

An investigation conducted by Corporal Fredrick John Muñoz showed that the motorcycle driven by Dela Cruz was traversing the road along Sitio Gawahon in Barangay 11 when he failed to notice a pile of sand.

The two fell on the pavement and sustained head injuries, Fajardo said, adding that they were not wearing helmets.

The police official added that Dela Cruz told them he was not speeding.

Fajardo said they are still checking if the owner of the sand has liability in the accident.
