Suspected NPA burns heavy equipment

SUSPECTED members of the New People's Army (NPA) burned successively some heavy equipment in Mabinay, Negros Oriental Monday, May 21.

The first incident was reported in Barangay Luyang around 5 p.m. wherein a road roller owned by Big Foot Construction was allegedly burned by about 10 armed men.

There is ongoing road rehabilitation in the area.

The heavy equipment was parked at a vacant lot when perpetrators pour gasoline and set it on fire.

It was followed by the same incident at Barangay Bagtic around 7:30 p.m.

Police records showed that a backhoe owned by the same construction firm that was parked in the said village was also burned by the same perpetrators.

A bulldozer was also allegedly burned by the same rebels at Barangay Bagtic around 9:20 p.m. while it was parked in the said area.

The investigation is ongoing.
