WITH 20, Talisay City now has the highest number of cholera cases in Negros Occidental as of November 19 this year, records from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) showed.

Another city from the north, Silay, came in second with 16 while the town of E.B. Magalona has six cases followed by the cities of Cadiz and Victorias with two cases each, and Manapla town with one.

Currently, Negros Occidental has 47 reported cholera cases with two deaths based on the latest report of the PHO’s Health Surveillance System.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Ernell Tumimbang has been reminding Negrenses to boil drinking water if they are not sure of the cleanliness of its source.

He said that food preparation must also be clean at all times because cholera is not only from unsafe drinking water but also from unclean food.*
