Traffic enforcer dead, 5 others hurt in collision

A PERSONNEL of the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) died while five passengers of a tricycle were injured after they figured in a collision at Burgos Extension road in Barangay Granada, Bacolod City Sunday night, May 20.

Chief Inspector Sherlock Gabana, head of Police Station 5, identified the fatality as Ramil Parreño of Abada Escay, Barangay Vista Alegre.

Also wounded were Josua Montanes, and Warnel Labargan, both residents of La Castellana town, Renzyle Gamilla of Barangay Tangub, Jeppy Dela Cruz of Moises Padilla town, and Arben Iran of Barangay Villamonte.

Gabana said Parreño, who was driving his motorcycle, was on his way home from a fiesta when he overlapped the opposite lane and collided with a tricycle driven by 60-year-old Rodolfo Sabrin.

Gabana said Parreño was reportedly drunk when the accident happened. He succumbed to head injuries.

Sabrin tried to avoid the motorcycle but failed. His five passengers were thrown away. He was unharmed.

The five injured victims sustained minor injuries and were brought to a hospital.
