Tricycle driver dies in Bacolod road crash

A TRICYCLE driver died in a road accident along Granada-Alangilan Road, Barangay Granada, Bacolod City Tuesday evening, February 16, 2021.

Police identified the fatality as Jose Ronie Ruel Jr., 34, of Sitio Balogo, Barangay Concepcion, Talisay City.

Police Lieutenant Ma. Liberty Indiape, spokesperson of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said the victim sustained serious injuries on his head and body. He was brought to the Corazon Locsin Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH), but he did not survive.

Investigation conducted by a traffic investigator of Police Station 5 showed that Ruel was driving his tricycle around 11:20 p.m. when he hit the concrete gutter along Granada-Alangilan Road.

The victim fell on the ground and hit his head on the concrete gutter.

Meanwhile, two drug personalities were arrested in a drug bust by operatives of Police Station 1 on Gatuslao Street, Bacolod City Wednesday morning.

Police identified the suspects as Albert Orilla Jr., 25, and Leonel Diaz, 28, both residents of Purok Tilapia, Barangay 2.

Police Major Ramel Sarona, chief of Police Station 1, said the suspects were arrested after they sold a sachet of shabu to a police undercover on Gatuslao Street, Barangay 28 around 6:30 a.m.

Police recovered from the suspects' possession five sachets of shabu with an estimated market value of P6,000 and the P500 marked money.

The suspects were detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 1. They will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
