MEMBERS of the 94th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army engaged in a firefight with suspected New People's Army (NPA) rebels in Barangay San Agustin in Isabela, Negros Occidental, Thursday morning, July 19.

Captain Oliver Usog, civil military operations officer of 94th IB, said they received reports about the alleged presence of unidentified armed men in the area, prompting them to dispatch troops.

While they were on their way to the upper part of the area, they sighted an undetermined number of armed men which led to an encounter.

The firefight lasted for 10 minutes, Usog said.

No casualties were reported on both sides.

As of this time, pursuit operation is still ongoing to locate the whereabouts of the group. (GYM)
