NEGROS Occidental Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer has paid respect to former EB Magalona town mayor and provincial board member David Albert Lacson, who passed away on Friday, December 3, 2021, due to coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Ferrer said Lacson was known to be a dedicated worker and public servant.

The United Negros Alliance (Unega) also passed a resolution expressing condolences to the family of Lacson.

The vice governor regarded the former town mayor more like a brother than a simple friend. He expressed shock and grief upon learning of his passing.

Ferrer, who is also part of Unega, said Lacson is one of the provincial party’s pillars.

He recalled that the last time they talked was on November 30. Lacson then informed him that he had tested positive for the coronavirus in a rapid antigen test.

Ferrer said he immediately advised Lacson to go to the hospital, pointing out that the latter had himself admitted on December 1 even if he only had flu-like symptoms.

Aside from Covid-19, Ferrer noted that the former town mayor also suffered several health issues such as problems with his liver due to high serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase (SGPT), creatinine and cholesterol.

He also noted that Lacson is a bit overweight.

Lacson passed away at the Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod City on Friday night at the age of 46, his cousin incumbent Third District Board Member Andrew Montelibano confirmed.

He was fully vaccinated with Sinovac, Montelibano said, adding that they are asking for prayers for his cousin’s bereaved family.
