Valladolid district hospital molecular lab gets 100% proficiency rating

Teresa D. Ellera

THE molecular laboratory inside the Valladolid District Hospital (VDH) will soon come into full operation after it got a 100-percent rating in its proficiency tests given by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine.

Lawyer Rayfrando Diaz, provincial administrator, said the Safeguard DNA Diagnostics Incorporated Laboratory passed the 2021 pre-licensing proficiency test for Sars-CoV-2 detection by real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test.

Diaz said they are now waiting for the Department of Health to issue the license for the facility to start its operations.

The Provincial Administrator added it would be perfect timing for them that the laboratory will not come into operation as the province continues its battle with the second wave of Covid-19.

The VDH molecular lab is the second Covid-19 testing center operated by the provincial government after the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City.
