Magnitude-4.8 quake rocks Surigao City

A MAGNITUDE-4.8 earthquake rocked Surigao City early Monday, state seismologists said.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake was recorded at 4:04 a.m.

Its epicenter was located at 67 kilometers north of Surigao City.

The quake was tectonic in origin.

It was felt at Intensity 2 in Surigao City, Libgun and Southern Leyte.

Phivolcs Director Renato Solidum said no damage was recorded in the quake.

He added damage from quakes in the Philippines will occur only under Intensity 6. (Sunnex)
