Oct. 27 a special non-working holiday

MANILA -- President Benigno Aquino III declared October 27 a special non-working holiday in areas where the village and youth polls were postponed.

Aquino signed the proclamation before he left for Vietnam Tuesday morning for his state visit. The President will also attend the Asean Summit.

The move came after the Commission on Elections (Comelec) sent a letter to President Aquino asking for the declaration of the special non-working holiday in areas where the special elections will be held.

Around 1,732 barangays in the country will be holding the special polls after the Comelec postponed the voting Monday due to delays in the delivery of poll materials and the effects of Super Typhoon Juan. (Sunnex)
