It was in 1978 when Sam O. Costanilla applied as drama talent of dyRF, then owned by the Redemptorist Order. Its news department later made him one of its news writers/newscasters.

A few years later, dyLA pirated him to work as news director. At the same time, he handled a daily program, “Laffingly Yours,” that tested his skill in entertaining the radio audience with his jokes interspersed with novelty songs.

He had a short stint with dyHP and the now defunct People’s Television of Maharlika Broadcasting Corp. as news writer/newscaster.

Sam has been working as consultant on media affairs of the Province of Cebu since 1995. He writes a weekly column for Sun.Star Cebu’s entertainment section.
