Senate summons 'jueteng lords' anew

Sunnexdesk

MANILA-- Suspected jueteng operators who missed Senate hearings on illegal gambling may soon be served with subpoenas if they continue to snub the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee.

In a telephone interview, Senator Teofisto Guingona told Sun.Star that the committee will consider compelling people tagged as jueteng operators and protectors to appear the Senate proceedings.

If they miss the next hearing scheduled this week, the committee could subpoenas them, according to Guingona. (Jonathan de Santos/Sunnex)
