Alcantara wins 5-peat in CPJ taekwondo tourney

MARY Angeline Alcantara, the 2017 World Cadet Taekwondo Championships gold medalist, once again displayed what she captured her 5-peat victory in the just-concluded 2020 National CPJ Taekwondo Championships held at SM Mall of Asia.

The Hanah Taekwondo gym and Living Stone International School mainstay dominated the Junior Women’s bantamweight (44-46 kgs) division.

Meanwhile, Joshua Emmanuel Deita finished silver medal in the lightweight (45-49 kgs) as first-timer Francesse Kaye Nualda also settled silver medal in Cadet Girls bantamweight (33-37 kgs).

On the other hand, another newbie Dondy Santillan took home the bronze medal in the Grade School boys’ fin weight (26 kgs and below). Among other Hanah jins who saw action is Ashley Chavez, Ethan Chavez, and Rolyn Jan Tolentino.

Also present during the tournament are Hanah jins Marcus Hinojas, now junior team captain from National University; Dex Ian Chavez of Arellano University and 2020 Sea Games bronze medalist, and currently with the University of Sto. Thomas standout Shaira Garbanzos, who is also a former cadet and junior national team gold medalist in the ASEAN and Asian Cadet.

Vic Feria, Hanah Taekwondo head coach, thanked Gov. Bong Lacson and Provincial Sports Coordinator Tony Agustin for the support extended to Alcantara.
