BACOLOD Tay Tung High School and Trinity Christian School earned the rights to represent the Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports, Cultural and Educational Association in next month’s Palarong Panlalawigan after successfully defending their respective titles on November 11 in the University of St. La Salle covered court.

Tay Tung Thunderbolts outpowered USLS junior Stingers (25-15, 25-14 and 25-9) to clinch their grand slam crown in the secondary girls’ division.

Tay Tung vice- chairman for sports Jose Montalbo is grateful for the victory, which he considered a good confidence build-up for his players ahead of the Girls 18-and-Under Rebisco Volleyball League National Finals this November 17 to 23 in Manila.

Looking forward to the next season, Montalbo is confident that his incoming players are ready to defend their Nopsscea title and earn the four-peat.

Meanwhile, current UP setter and former Tay Tung standout Marianne Sotomil felt proud of what the Thunderbolts has achieved.

“It was nice being part of the shared history. Two steps closer to the Palarong Pambansa. Keep it up girls and let us all leave a mark,” she said.

Also, Trinity Christian School registered back-to-back title after beating St. John’s Institute in the elementary division.

SJI also defended its 10 Under title over Trinity.
