CLARK International Airport Corporation [Ciac] President Jaime Alberto Melo announced an additional of 100 flights next month.

“We are working on additional regional flights. Iyon po talaga ang bubuhay sa Pampanga because we have already the domestic base. If we have the international and domestic flights, buo na po iyong hub natin. The passengers need not to have to go to Manila, dito na and they have connecting flights all over,” Melo said.

He also announced the launching of flights to San Jose Occidental in Mindoro, San Vicente in Palawan, and Cauayan, Isabela by the end of October.

Melo said a P2.2-billion second runway may soon be realized when Congress approves funding for the project, which was aimed to boost Ciac facilities while construction of the new passenger terminal is underway.

Ciac has 440 flights per week with an average of 60 flights a day, catering to 2,022,043 passengers flying to 280 domestic and 60 international flights.

Aside from the expansion, Melo said Ciac is upgrading its security.

The Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luozn, and the northern part of the National Capital Region utilize the Ciac facilities.

The Ciac is eyed to become the next hub for business and travel.
