THE Rotary Club of Bacolod-Marapara, in collaboration with Rotaract Marapara, launched a Computer Literacy Program on Saturday, June 12, for the boys at the Bacolod Boys' Home.

Led by trainer Rotarian Lander Leonillo, the program will run for 12 months. It aims to provide the boys with a firm foundation in computer skills thus equipping them for future success in today's technology-driven environment.

The boys will learn how to write documents, take notes, create spreadsheets, make presentations and edit images. The program covers a wide range of software titles including Typing Master Pro, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Photoshop.

"We live in a technology-driven world and proficiency in computers is a must for success. We are pleased to have this opportunity to help the boys develop their ICT skills to prepare them for the workplace with modern skills and competencies," said incoming club president Rolando Corona.

The Bacolod Boys' Home is a multi-faceted shelter for abandoned, orphaned, and neglected boys in Negros Occidental. It was established in Barangay Granada in 1960 by the late Fr. Gratian Murray. Today there are some 200 boys in the home.
