Villanueva: Ushering the Chinese New Year

Brenda Lee Villanueva

THE City Government of Baguio and the Filipino-Chinese Community headed by Congressman Mark Go, Mayor Mauricio Domogan, Atty. Carlos Canilao (City Administrator); Mr. Peter Ng (Chairperson, Execom, Spring Festival 2019 Celebration) and Jeff Ng (chairperson, Program committee); and members of the Baguio community geared up for the upcoming Spring Festival. Also in attendance were representatives from the different Filipino-Chinese organizations and associations.

Special guests were Master Feng Shui Adriel Trinidad and Feng Shui consultant Teresa Trinidad.

Watch out for the exciting Spring Fest Grand Parade this February 6. It will surely be a great way to celebrate the festivities not only within the Filipino-Chinese community but the whole city as well. It will also be a symbolic ceremony of sharing luck when parade participants throw goodies to the spectators and crowd.

Happy lunar New Year everyone!

WHERE’S THE WATER? Water is sparse at the Jaclupan wellfield in Talisay City in this photo provided by the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) on Friday, April 26, 2024. Completed in 1998, MCWD’s Jaclupan facility, officially known as the Mananga Phase I Project, catches, impounds and pumps out around 30,000 cubic meters of water per day under normal circumstances. However, on Friday, MCWD spokesperson Minerva Gerodias said the facility’s daily production had plummeted to 8,000 cubic meters per day, or just about a quarter of its normal capacity, as Cebu grapples with the effects of the drought caused by the El Niño phenomenon, which is expected to persist until the end of May. The facility supplies water to consumers in Talisay City and Cebu City. /
