AS IT does in the aftermath of typhoons, Benguet Electric Cooperative again dispatched a team to help restore power, this time in Jones, Isabela which was devastated by Typhoon Rosita.

The team of 10 personnel dispatched by Beneco general manager Gerry Verzosa initially worked on November 4 in Alicia town where the Isabela Electric Cooperative is based.

From November 5 to 12, the team worked in Jones town, restoring power in 20 barangays with an average of five poles replaced and four leaning poles corrected daily.

In his report, Carlo Joel Andres of the Construction and Maintenance Office identified the barangays served as Lenomot, San Felipe, San Isidro, Carayan, Lusod, Arubob, Apalam, Topay, San Roque, San Antonio, San Jose, Pongpengan, Divinan, San Pedro, San Agustin, Pili, Namnama, Villa Belo, Santa Fe and San Luis.

Nine primary poles were also replaced by the team in San Agustin and Linomiso, both in Echage town.

The Beneco team members were Merson Albin, Alexander Bernardez, Jineer Bumakil, Emerson Esgana, Rufo Madilat, Brandon Pagoli, Russell Picpican and Amnel Pinatid.

Perhaps the most impressive restoration work of Beneco personnel in its outreach program was in the wake of another typhoon in 2013 that devastated Capiz town in the Visayas.

The Beneco team lead by engineers Rocky Pallogan, Zac Torres and Carlo Bentayen spent a month repairing the electric lines of Capiz Electric Cooperative in Capiz, Dau, Dumalag and Tapaz towns.

The Beneco team also coordinated the arrival of former world karate champion Julian Chees, an Igorot martial artist based in Germany who flew in to deliver over P700.000 in rice and cash to typhoon victims in Dumalag and Tapaz towns. (Ramon Dacawi)
