EXPECT heightened police visibility in the coming days with the opening of classes for public schools first week of June.

Police Brigadier General Israel Ephraim Dickson, regional director of the Police Regional Office Cordillera, assured an increased police visibility near schools and on streets when classes begin to thwart criminals.

Dickson said police assistance desks would also be set up in schools and universities in the Cordillera to ensure the safety of students.

He earlier instructed his personnel to help repair classrooms in various provinces of the region in preparation for the school opening on June 3.

Dickson said the directive is for the police personnel to participate in the Department of Education's (DepEd) "Brigada Eskwela."

The program brings together teachers, parents, non-government organizations and other stakeholders in repairing public schools for the opening of classes.

"We have directed our units especially in the provinces to assist DepEd in their Brigade Eskwela. Our police personnel will not only help in the cleaning of classrooms but to ensure security in all academic institutions in the region," Dickson said.

Brigada Eskwela includes efforts in cleaning up classrooms, repairing facilities and other fixtures to give students a conducive learning environment.
