GUERRILLA type operation of illegal gambling continue to hound the town La Trinidad in Benguet, as confirmed by Chief Inspector Jeoffer Banglayan, the newly-appointed chief of the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station.

“There are text messages being received by our office reporting gambling,” said Banglayan citing a recent operation by the police but yielded negative arrest.

The top cop stated a daily monitoring and continuous confirmation of the reported gambling operations which occur in the central business district of the valley is being examined.

“Kala nga Guerilla type, nu mapan kami awan, (It’s like a Guerilla type when we go in the area, there is none),” added Banglayan.

Previously, a building in barangay Pico was issued a closure order by the business and licensing office where alleged illegal gambling operations was reported.

Since January this year, 12 violators of illegal gamblers were already arrested.

According to police record, most of the arrest were acted on tips by concerned citizens of the valley.

Police said they are monitoring the barangays of Pico, Puguis, Poblacion, Shilan, Wangal where illegal gambling such as drop ball, cockfighting and card games are being played.

La Trinidad Mayor Romeo Salda said with the ordinance banning gambling, the valley will remain relentless in their effort to curb illegal activities.
