THE public is being urged to donate their old jeans and denim clothes for recycling and utilized as dog collars.

The collars will be placed to all the dogs and given corresponding registered numbers.

The project, dubbed as “Dog Tag Every Dog Project” was initiated by Benguet Veterinarian Doctor Anabelle Apse which seeks the public cooperation to place collars on their dogs.

A number will be placed in the dog’s collar which entails the name of the owner and address to be traced using an application to help the barangays impose penalties to pet owners.

This will also aid in finding owners of dogs if they get lost or impounded.

During the projects pilot testing on July 16, collars were distributed for free but more old denim jeans are needed.

The Cordillera Animal Protection Advocates (CAPA), a non-stock, non-profit organization was formed by pet lovers in the region are also looking for volunteers.

CAPA and the Velnerable Knight Veterianias Fraternity and Venerable Lady Veterinarias Sorority (Vkv-Vlv Zeta Chapter) will set up donation booth along Malcolm Square on July 27 and 28 for all interested donators to bring old jeans and denims.

The tags will be given for free during the pilot testing of a Dog Registration Application and given corresponding registration number.

Under RA 9482, pet owners are required to maintain full control over their dogs and pets, they are also tasked in 24 hours to report immediate dog biting incidents to concern officials and assist dog bite victim.
