First aiders for every firm eyed in La Trinidad village

BARANGAY officials of Betag in La Trinidad, Benguet are requiring all establishments and officers of different organizations and schools in the village to become trained first aider.

Barangay Ordinance 1, series of 2019 requires all establishments to have at least first aid kit and must have one for every 10 members or employees to undergo first aid and basic life support course provided by the Philippine Red Cross, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and other accredited agencies.

"For emergency situations where no medical person is around, immediate first aid is vital in saving lives," the ordinance reads.

The proposed ordinance covers all establishment or agencies, markets, grocery stores, hotels, restaurants, schools, construction and manufacturing companies and similar establishments are operating within the barangay with 10 or more personnel.

Penalties for violators include a written warning from the barangay office for first offense, P300 for second offense and P500 for third offense.

During the regular session of the La Trinidad Municipal Council on September 17, the ordinance was referred to the committee on laws and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management for appropriate action.
