BAGUIO Representative Mark Go reaffirmed his commitment to serve as the voice of the city in the halls of congress as he updated the city government on the status of pending bills in the Lower House during his State of the District address.

Two of Go's bills pertain to heritage preservation of Burnham Park and Kennon Road.

Go said the move to secure Burnham will set into place its security and upkeep by declaring it as a Heritage Park.

If the bill is approved, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines [NHCP], Department of Tourism, TIEZA and the local government unit will have direct supervision over the area assuring its care and preservation as mandated when declaration of a National Heritage Site is made.

The bill to declare the stretch of Kennon Road as a heritage zone was made alongside a request for the DPWH to fully rehabilitate the entire area.

Go said full rehabilitation will upgrade the crucial area into an all-weather road, making it accessible even during the rainy season.

Kennon Road, when declared a heritage zone, will likewise put a premium on historical and cultural preservation and is envisioned to have areas for display of material to educate the public on its significance.
