RENEWABLE energy provider Hedcor donated P1 million worth of goods and medical supplies in three provinces in Northern Luzon.

The energy provider recently provided frontliners rice, canned goods, coffee, sugar, and disinfectants to name a few in Benguet, Mt. Province and Ilocos Sur.

In response to the assistance, Tuba Mayor Clarita Sal-ongan acknowledged the additional packs that are to be distributed to her constituents.

On top of these relief efforts, the Department of Energy recently announced that these local government units (LGUs) can also use its ER1-94 funds under Reforestation, Watershed Management, and Health & Environment Enhancement Fund (RWMHEEF) to help the needs of the LGUs for the procurement of medical supplies to aid Covid-19 crisis.

The RWMHEEF is from the generation shares of Hedcor run-of-river hydropower plants.

Additional medical equipment such as surgical masks, nitrile gloves, alcohol, and units of infrared digital thermometers will also be handed over to selected partner LGUs as soon as supplies are available.

“The Aboitiz Group is one with the government and our brave medical and security frontliners who are working hard to defeat Covid-19. We are committed to supporting the Covid-19 frontliners for the long term,” said Sabin Aboitiz, group president and CEO.

In more than 40 years of business, Hedcor weathered with its host communities storms from the 1990 earthquake, the Itogon landslide and now the Covid-19 pandemic.

“As we address this outbreak, Hedcor’s commitment to its host community will not waver. Covid-19 may get us limping, but time and time again, we have proven that the Filipino spirit, camaraderie and resiliency can never be broken,” Aboitiz quipped.

“In this trying time of uncertainty and fear, we acknowledge that we are stronger together. Together we will get through this; and when we do, we will continue to advance our communities through health and wellness programs,” Aboitiz adds. (PR)
