TEMPORARY barriers are eyed in Benguet’s capital town hoping to ease congestion.

The La Trinidad Municipal Police Station earlier proposed the installation of plastic barriers along the stretch of Kilometer 3 until Kilometer 5, which was approved during a recent meeting of the Traffic Management Board (TMB) on October 9.

Mayor Romeo Salda said the placement of the temporary barriers will take effect later this month and will last for 60 days only.

Salda said TMB also recommended the installation of the barriers to ease traffic congestion in the area.

Commercial establishments earlier opposed the installation of a barrier along the busy stretch of La Trinidad’s main road as they have difficulties in delivering their goods.

The mayor said commercial establishments along Kilometer 3 to Kilometer 5 were already given notices and were asked to input suggestions in upcoming meetings.

Aside from the temporary barriers, Salda said they are eyeing construction of an overpass in Kilometer 4.
