Typhoon Ulysses death toll in Cordillera reaches 11

ELEVEN are already confirmed dead in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) while one remained missing due to Typhoon Ulysses, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) reported.

The person who remained missing is a victim of a landslide that hit Banaue, Ifugao.

On November 15, rescue teams from the government and private sector recovered the bodies of Engineer John Limoh, 31, of Barangay Ducligan, Banaue, and Engr. Julius Gulayan Jr. of Sitio Balat, Lubu-ong.

Another body was recovered and still being identified as of Tuesday, November 17.

Recovered earlier were Jose Piog, 70; Clever Joniel Piog, 18; Reynante Boquing, 28; Joshua Culhi, 24; Roldan Pigoh, 37; and Lance Bruce Guinyang, 3.

Three families are still in the different evacuation centers, said the OCD-CAR, while 394 families or 1,506 individuals sought shelter with their relatives and friends.

OCD-CAR also noted 789 houses were damaged during the typhoon while 16 schools sustained infrastructure damage.

As of November 17, 15 roads are closed to traffic, while 173 road sections are either "one lane passable or punch thru open" due to landslides.

The Municipality of Mayoyao in Ifugao on November 12 declared a state of calamity.
