MORE than 500 Cordillerans based in the United States of America including Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada gathered together for the celebration of the fourth Adivay Festival in Temecula, California.

An activity organized and spearheaded by the Benguet 13 Organization of California Inc. composed of members from Southern California, the 2019 Adivay showcased not only the culture of Benguet and Mountain Province and Kalinga as presented in the cultural dances.

The organization’s new President Joseph Luspian who traced his roots from Mankayan, Benguet lead the event and warmly welcomed all the kakailians in California, Nevada, Texas, Arizona, and Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada who attended the successful event.

“Our Adivay is a biannual event intended to promote awareness of our cultural heritage, enhance camaraderie, and unity among our members,” Luspian said.

Audie Cabico, one of the advisers of the group said the celebration of the 2019 Adivay dubbed “Working together to promote our cultural heritage” also coincided with the Christmas party & induction of the new officers of Benguet 13 Organization of California Inc. on Dec. 28, 2019.

Through unity and mutual support of the different Indigenous Groups from the Cordillera, the indigenous cultural heritage will continue to live on even in America. It will be preserved and promoted by exposing the next generation to their own culture.
