WHILE the whole country is celebrating a victory of Senator Manny Pacquiao against Adrian Broner, Igorotlandia is also having their own celebration as Alvin Tam made headlines over the weekend in Canada.

Tam, son of Benguet’s legendary boxing great Rey, scored a fourth round knockout victory against Mexican Rutlio Romero in the undercard of the Dekada Contender card at the Deerfoot Inn & Casino in Calgary, Canada.

The win gave Tam his 15th victory, five of which came via knockout, his second straight victory since moving to Canada, while handing Romero’s fourth loss of his career with seven wins, and two draws.

Tam debut in Canada in 2013 where he hopes to revive his boxing career.

He is currently fighting under Bowmont Boxing Club.

After migrating to Alberta, Tam plunged to action against Roody Pierre Paul, but suffered a unanimous decision loss then he succumbed to Jesus Perez via split decision against Jesus Perez in October of 2017.

The former World Boxing Champion Asian Boxing Council Continental featherweight title holder however turns things around in 2018 after winning against Arturo Garcia Lujano via knockout, also in the fourth round.

According to a news report, the main event saw local Nigerian fighter Albert Onolunose defeating Mexico’s Genaro Ortiz.

Also on the card, Kandi Wyatt moved to 8-0 and handed Mexican visitor Dalila Velazquez her first loss.
