DepEd taps Baguio football coach

A BAGUIO football coach was selected as one of the few teachers in the country to create instructional videos for the Department of Education (DepEd).

Aries Bocalan, who coaches the football team and a high school teacher at Baguio City National High School, was tapped to produce an instructional video that will be used by DepEd's Bureau of Learner Support Services - School Sports Division (BLSS-SSD) for its sports manual for each of the 27 events played in Palarong Pambansa.

Rizalino Jose Rosales, BLSS director, in his letter, said DepEd needs instructional videos for each of the 27 sports to be used by the coaches and students in the field.

"May we seek assistance from you, with the help of our Palarong Pambansa tournament managers and sports manual writers in producing instructional videos in football for DepEd's consumption in this time of crisis,” Rosales wrote.

Rosales added the manual aims to standardize the teaching and learning of the different sports.

"It covers teaching approaches and techniques in sports, competition rules, and other information relevant to understanding the sports during this time of pandemic," added Rosales letter.

Bocalan has been at the forefront of reinventing the popularity of football in the Cordillera region and has helped in the development of several players who saw action in national and international competitions.

Through the Cordillera Binnadang Football Club, Bocalan and his fellow coaches conduct regular football clinics not only in Baguio City but also in nearby Benguet and other provinces in the region.
