Elmer Retolado retains sky running title

ELMER Retolado accelerated past foes to retain the 49-kilometer title of the recently concluded Pilipinas Akyathlon in Itogon, Benguet.

Retolado was quicker by three minutes when he topped the contest last year, as he clocked six hours, 25 minutes and 34.9 seconds in the annual National Skyrunning Championships presented by the Philippine Skyrunning Association.

Edu Losnong and Baguio's Alison Tellias came in second and third, respectively, after checking in at 7:11:52.2 and 7:18:39, while Anthony Calixterio and Mark Christian Monsanto finished fourth and fifth with a time of 7:53:59.9 and 7:55:39.7.

In the distaff side, local Gretchen Felipe finished sixth over-all and reclaimed the women's crown after clocking a time of 8:09:42.6, besting Maria Josephine Liao and Cecille Wael, who checked in at 8:43:13.9 and 9:17:08.1 .

In the 25-kilometer mountain run category, Ypril Manzano checked in at 3:18:29.9 to win the title, besting local Ronald Donaal, who finished the race at 3:29:47.6, while Laurence Cris Balanza came in third with a time of 3:35:11.2.

The 2019 49-kilometer women's champion Jennyvi Fontanilla emerged as the top lady runner in the 25 km category with a time of 3:36:09.6.

Carminia Luisa Jereza came in second, clocking 4:22:33.3, while Patricia Ann Morota checked in at third place with her time of 4:28:22.

Vinson Ramos topped the 10-kilometer trail run with a time of 59 minutes and 18 seconds with Job Tangoyab checking in at 1:12:09 to take second place, while Edison Morales finished third with a time of 1:15:12.

Marychiel Morales, meanwhile, bagged the top purse in the distaff side with a time of 1:21:04, followed by Patricia Paula Seriritan with a time of 1:28:50 with Jennifer Estacio completing the top three after barging into the finish line at 1:49:32.

Ramos also held the vertical kilometer run title with Alex Gabriel Rosario and Nephil Parel in second and third, while Seriritan topped the ladies side while Trina Concepcion and Ma. Khatrina Visperas completed the top three.

In the kiddie run, Dustin Panangwe timed 11:53 to top the contest with Samuel Ayagan finishing 11:57 for a decent second place, while Ethan Jones Corpuz time of 12:12 was good for third place.

Hannah Mae Ramac timed 13:29 to top the girls division, while Angilee Tindaan checked in at 14:32.0 to settle for second place while Jhanna Dane Nicolas clocked 14:57 to salvage third place. (Roderick Osis)
