Former boxing champ to headline Highland Brawl 5

A FORMER regional champion is set to make its ring return later this month headlining the boxing for a cause organized by the Highland – DMAD – Kings Edward International Boxing Promotion.

Dubbed Highland Brawl 5: Bangon Cordillera tentatively set on October 28 in Baguio City, former World Boxing Council International bantamweight title holder Rex Wa-o makes his comeback after two years of absence.

Wa-o last fought in 2016 where he suffered a fifth round technical knockout against Jeo Santisima for his third straight loss dating back to 2015 where he also yielded to Xian Qian Wei for the World Boxing Council Asian Boxing Council featherweight and the WBC Eurasia Pacific Boxing Council featherweight title.

The 28–year–old Tadian, Mt. Province native will square off against Metro Manila’s Dan Manosa for the Luzproba super featherweight title while the co–main event will feature a match–up between Jelbirt Gomera of La Trinidad, Benguet and Jayson Nicart of Bacoor,Cavite For the Luzproba featherweight title.

A Luzproba flyweight title match is also expected to thrill fight fans with Romshane Sarguilla of La Trinidad, Benguet taking on Mervin Lulu of Malabon City.

In the supporting bouts, Rey Juntilla of La Trinidad meanwhile takes on Jeson Berwela of Batangas City in a superfeatherweight bout while featherweights Mj Uduna of Kiangan, Ifugao tests the mettle of Mark Jequinto of Zamboanga Sibugay in six rounds.

A flyweight bout between Benjie Bartolome (La Trinidad) and Lony Cadayday (La Trinidad) will also take place while Ador Torres (La Trinidad) squares off against Prabjot Singh (India) in a welterweight clash.

Light flyweights Mark Anthony Autida (La Trinidad) and Jhun Jhun Rimasog (Muntinlupa City) will also see action in the event while featherweight Jhun-Jhun Jimenez (Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya) clash against Chris Miguel (Tuba, Benguet) with flyweight Romeo Tenorio (La Trinidad) gets to open the curtains against a still unnamed opponent.
