MisOr lauds top 5 real property taxpayers

Jo Ann Sablad

THE top real property taxpayers in Misamis Oriental were recognized by the Provincial Government through its Provincial Treasurer's Office last Monday, November 26.

As of the third quarter of this year, the leading real property taxpayer is the FDC Misamis Power Corporation, paying P60.698 million. This was followed by Minergy Power Corporation with P40.249 million; Holcim Philippines Corporation with P24.017 million; Coca-Cola Femsa Philippines Incorporated with P10.878 million; and STEAG State Power Incorporated with P7.160 million.

Plaques of recognition were given to each of the top five real property taxpayers.

According to Ronald Jame Violon, the acting provincial treasurer, this is the first time the province initiated the recognition of its top real property taxpayers.

“Never kasi talaga na na-recognize yung mga taxpayers. Naisip ko naman, why not give them recognition. Ang main purpose talaga nito is para mabigyan nang recognition yung top taxpayers kasi yung buwis na binabayad nila pumupunta naman talaga sa mga constituents ng Misamis Oriental,” Violon said.

“The taxpayers are not asking for award or reward, just recognition kasi nga pag ma-recognize sila, of course exposure yun para sa kanilang company,” he added.

Violon said that the recognition is also an expression of gratitude as their contribution will be helpful in the creation and implementation of programs or projects of the Provincial Government to serve its constituents.

“One way of encouraging also other business establishments to put up business here in Misamis Oriental,” he added.
