A WOMAN was killed, while another was wounded, after a 10-wheeler truck loaded with alcoholic beverages allegedly rammed another pick-up vehicle towards a ravine near a hotel in Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental, over the weekend.

Died on the spot was a certain Jacklyn Malabanan who was sitting at the passenger seat of the pick-up while the driver Cosain Amer was rushed to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC).

Police said the Iligan-bound truck driven by Elbert Mangayan met head-on the Toyota hi-lux pick-up bound to Cagayan de Oro City.

Authorities are still investigating the incident to determine the cause of the deadly crash.

Superintendent Surki Serenas, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Northern Mindanao said the truck driver may likely face reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property charges.

"In any traffic accident, the injured or deceased is considered the aggrieved party. Since the hi-lux pick-up suffered death and serious injury, the truck driver will be held under police custody to answer for the criminal charges," Serenas said.
