THE Anti-African Swine Fever Task Force confiscated 1,780 pork-based products from an establishment on J.R. Borja Street on Tuesday, June 23, 2020.

Dr. Lucien Anthony Acac, city veterinarian, said the confiscated products, consisting of canned goods and sachets, were delivered to the establishment as early as January, based on a delivery receipt, four months after Mayor Oscar Moreno issued Executive Order 172 that prohibited the entry of live hog, pork and processed pork products from Luzon because of the ASF threat.

Acac said the seized products were traced to Laguna.

"Existing ug in effect pa ang EO 172 sa syudad ug bisan ASF-free pa ang Cagayan de Oro, dili mahimo nga magkumpiyansa kita," Acac said, adding that the task force has continued monitoring operations.

Acac said the products will be burned on an open field to lessen the risks of contamination based on the rules of the Department of Agriculture and Department of Environment and Natural Resources. (PR)
