'Big fishes' next

MISAMIS Oriental Governor Yevgeny Emano on Monday, September 10, has revealed that police operatives are following “big fishes” in the illegal drug trade that operate in the province.

Emano, however, declined to identify the supposed high value targets figured in the police drug list.

He also refused to describe whether they are politicians or men in uniform.

The governor said he was able to see the supposed list not a long time ago.

"Naay mga 'big fish' nga gimonitor dinhi. I was able to see it kay gipasil-ip man ko sa lista," Emano said.

The capitol's top official is not certain though whether the drug list that he saw was the same list which President Rodrigo Duterte holds.

"I don't know if it’s from PRRD but I saw interesting names," he added.

With the spate of shooting deaths involving “nanlaban” drug suspects in the province, Emano urged provincial police director Senior Superintendent Rolando Destura to only do what is right.

"Just follow what is right and follow the campaign of the president against illegal drugs and criminality," Emano said.

Superintendent Surki Serenas, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Northern Mindanao, has confirmed that the authorities are monitoring big time drug personalities in the province.

Serenas said these drug personalities are already subject for anti-illegal drug operations.

"Naay daghan HVT atong gimonitor. During Oplan Tokhang majortiy sa mga surenderees nitug-an aha ang ilang source," Serenas said.
