City to release pensions for indigent seniors

ABOUT 5,000 senior citizens will receive their pensions for two quarters from the City Government from June 9 until June 15.

The City Government has allocated about P16 million for the government's social pension program that prioritizes indigent senior citizens in the city.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Northern Mindanao has earlier allotted over P1 billion for the social pension of 186,760 indigent senior citizens across the region for 2018.

DSWD records show that there are about 34,378 senior citizens in Bukidnon, 6,339 seniors in Camiguin, 46,026 in Lanao del Norte, 46,245 in Misamis Oriental, and 53,772 senior citizens in Misamis Occidental.

A senior citizen in Cagayan de Oro who will claim his or her social pension will receive a stipend amounting to P3,000 for the 1st and 2nd quarter of this year.

The schedule are as follows:

June 10 Sunday, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m., Bulua covered court: Barangay Bayabas, Bonbon, Kauswagan.

June 10 Sunday, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m., Bulua covered court: Barangay Bulua, Iponan, Patag.

June 11 Monday, 10:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., SM Uptown: Barangay Bayanga, Besigan, Dansolihon, Lumbia, Mambuaya, Pagalungan, Pigsag-an, Taglimao, Tagpangi, Tignapoloan, Tuburan, Tumpagon.

June 12 Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., Tablon covered court: Barangay Tablon, Balubal.

June 12 Tuesday, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m., Tablon covered court: Barangay Bugo, Puerto, Agusan.

June 13 Wednesday, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., Puregold Lapasan: Barangay Gusa, Lapasan.

June 13 Wednesday, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m., Puregold Lapasan: Barangay Cugman, FS Catanico.

June 14 Thursday, 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m., SM Downtown: Barangay Consolacion, Macabalan.

June 14 Thursday, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m., SM Downtown: Barangay Macasandig, Nazareth, Puntod, Balulang.

June 15 Friday, 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m., SM Downtown: Barangay 1-40.

June 15 Friday, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m., SM Downtown: Barangay Camaman-an, Indahag.

June 16 Saturday, 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m., Canitoan covered court: Barangay Canitoan.

June 16 Saturday, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m., Canitoan covered court: Barangay Pagatpat, Baikingon, San Simon.

Only citizens aged 60 and above who have no pensions from private or government institutions, who have no regular income or support from their families may enroll in the program.

Those who have pensions from Social Security System (SSS) or Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) are not qualified. The DSWD said they are working to provide about 14,000 additional slots to enroll more senior citizens across Northern Mindanao.
