Clup ‘overhaul’ pushed in Oro

PJ Orias

CITY Councilor Ian Mark Nacaya is pushing for a comprehensive land use plan (Clup) which should be parallel to the metropolitan Cagayan de Oro in the future.

Nacaya, chairperson of the committee of planning and development, said the vast lands of this city should align with the Annual Investment Plan and boost economic activities more in Cagayan de Oro.

“In the Clup, we have to identify suitable areas of development and manage our resources,” he said.

“Without it, there would be no direction, we may be doing well in some other aspects in public service but we will run array, directed towards different directions,” he added.

Councilor Leon Gan, however, butted in, pointing out that the previous council already passed a land use plan. He said, the City Council should instead update it.

But Nacaya said, the existing Clup was made 15 years ago and it was only a 9-year development plan.

Nacaya said under the local government plan, the Clup should be at least a 15-year plan.

The comprehensive plan is a document designed to guide the future actions of a community. It presents a vision for the future, with long-range goals and objectives for all activities that affect the local government.
