THE Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officers (Menros) of various municipalities in Misamis Oriental province will be going through solid waste management training, as part of the 10-year Ecological Solid Waste Management Plan, on May 23 to 26.

Organized by the Provincial Government and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-Northern Mindanao, Provincial Information Officer Nicole Managbanag said the three-day training will consists of discussions on protecting the environment through proper garbage disposal and collection in roads and bodies of water.

Managbanag added that several companies will also be presenting their new technologies which can help solve the ongoing problem of trash in the environment.

"Part of the training sa (for) Menro, meron yung mga different companies na mag present ng kanilang mga technology, yung (there are different companies that will present their) alternative solid waste management technology," Managbanag said.

According to Managbanag, a board meeting was conducted last Friday, April 13, wherein these alternative solid waste management technologies were introduced by companies such as the Liamtech Company and Marinas Technologies Inc., to the Provincial Solid Waste Management Board, chaired by Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Emano.

These technologies, she added, include a bioreactor, a machine that accelerates the decomposition and stabilization of waste and turn them into fertilizer.

At present, Managbanag said the province already has a technology that can turn kilos of cellophanes into chairs which, then, will be donated to schools, and other facilities in need of chairs.

The provincial information officer added that through the solid waste management training, the above mentioned technology will also be introduced and be adapted by the municipalities.

Managbanag also mentioned that a total of P400,000 budget is allocated to the three-day training; P300,000 from DENR-Northern Mindanao, and P100,000 from the Provincial Government.

"Kining (This) writeshop kun (or) deliberation of 10-year Ecological Solid Management Plan daku og ikatabang alang sa pagpadayon sa programa sa pag-protehir sa kinaiyahan, maoy hinungdan nga suportado gayud kaayo nato kini (is a huge help in our unceasing program to protect the environment, that's why we support this activity)," Emano said.
