FORMER Misamis Occidental board member Ricardo Parojinog may be among those who gave police the slip during a bloody police raid in Kinawe, Libona, Bukidnon that wounded three soldiers over the weekend.

Superintendent Melgar Devaras, commanding officer of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Cagayan de Oro City (CIDG-CDOC), said they received an intelligence report that Parojinog, brother of the late Ozamiz City mayor Reynaldo Parojinog, was sighted in the area.

Devaras said Parojinog may have escaped along with Tarcisio Barros, the former village chief of Kinawe.

Tarcisio's wife Cherry, the incumbent barangay chairperson, and 18 others (not 12 as earlier reported) were arrested following a search of five houses owned by the Barros family which yielded several firearms and explosives.

"Two to three persons ang nakatakas at suspicion namin na kasama doon si Parojinog di lang namin ma-validate sa ngayon (We believe 2-3 persons have escaped and we suspect that among those was Parojinog but we can't validate it yet)," Devaras said.

Devaras added the intelligence report also said that Parojinog was into mining and treasure hunting in the area.

He said Parojinog was allegedly sighted in the village even before the drug raid in Ozamis City which resulted to the death of few of his relatives and several others.

Authorities believed that Parojinog fled from Ozamis City and took Barros' residence in Kinawe as a hideout.

Devaras also said the village chief may be related to the Parojinogs by blood.

"Yung si kapitana is taga Ozamiz siya yung may blood relation sa mga Parojinog di ko lang ma-confirm kung anong degree (The village chief is related to the Parojinogs but I can't confirm the degree),"Devaras said.

Meanwhile, arrested suspects underwent inquest proceedings Monday, April 23, after the CIDG-CDOC charged them with direct assault, frustrated murder, attempted homicide, and violations of the RA 10591 and RA 9516 for illegal possession of firearms and explosives, respectively.

"Kasama sa kinasuhan natin si Tarcisio pero at large at yung dalawang 'John Does " (We include Tarcisio and the 2 John Does in the filing of the case but their status is at large), Devaras said.
