Guv to beneficiaries: Keep your land

Alwen Saliring

MISAMIS Oriental Governor Yevgeny Emano has warned farmer beneficiaries in the province not to trade the land given by President Rodrigo Duterte during his visit in the city early this month.

Emano said nearly 300 hectares of land were awarded to some 241 farmers in the province.

Duterte personally handed out the Certificate of Land Ownership Award (CLOA) to some 3,400 recipients in Northern Mindanao covering 5,808 hectares at a university gymnasium here.

“Dakong kaayuhan ang naghulat sa mga benepisyaryo ning luna nga ilang nadawat kung hatagan lamang gayud nila og bili hilabina kung tikaran ug tamnan kini sa binhi nga motabang sa krisis sa bugas-humay, bugas-mais, utanon ug lagutmon,” Emano said.

Among those who will benefit the land titles given by the president are the former communist rebels who returned to the folds of the law and who have formed themselves into Tagpako Farmers Cooperative in Gingoog City.

Agrarian department officials have earlier said that the CLOA cannot be easily traded and once farmers do so, the government will take it back and give it to those who needed it the most.
