Mayor orders immediate arrest of suspect in Taguanao hit-and-run

MAYOR Rolando "Klarex" Uy ordered the immediate arrest of the suspect in the hit-and-run on Pelaez Bridge in Taguanao, Barangay Indahag, Cagayan de Oro City on Sunday morning, October 9, 2022.

"Kinahanglan madakop na sa madaling panahon. Dili na dugayon," Uy said.

On Sunday, a 26-year-old man was killed and others were injured after they were ran over by a black Hyundai Accent with plate number KAB 1246 after a scuffle along Taguanao Bridge.

The incident was captured on video, which has circulated on social media.

The police identified the victims as Paul John Levita, who died on the spot; his 22-year-old brother Rufus Levita, who was in serious condition at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center; and 18-year-old Jhane Valerie Canonero and 19-year-old Prince Lopez, both of whom were treated for various injuries at the said hospital.

According to Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) Chief Colonel Aaron Mandia, they already identified the suspect as Stephen Neri, 27, a resident of Muco, Zayas in Barangay Carmen.

"We are now undergoing hot pursuit operation," Mandia said, adding that the person-in-interest was no longer in his residence.
