CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno Friday, November 20, reiterated his call for cooperation from the public after Davao City was placed under general community quarantine (GCQ).

Moreno said they have been monitoring the situation in Davao City after President Rodrigo Duterte ordered to revert the city's status back to GCQ until November 30 following the rise in coronavirus infections.

As of November 19, Davao City had 5,520 coronavirus cases with 3,401 recoveries, 245 deaths, and 1,874 active cases.

"Grabe ang surge sa Davao and of course, we've been following that and my position remains the same. Ang level sa quarantine is not a response sa cases," Moreno said.

"Kung dili mag kooperar ang katawhan, then mag ECQ ka or MECQ and then dal-on nimo sa strong armed tactic," he added.

The mayor said it is important for the public to be disciplined and cautious, adding that if the residents continue to ignore the health protocols, a lockdown might happen.

"Dili nato gusto pero kinahanglan ang atong collective effort. It will render the lockdown irrelevant. That should be the behavior of our people," Moreno said.
