THE Cooperative Development Authority (CDA)-Northern Mindanao has named Misamis Oriental as the “Most Cooperative Friendly Province” in the Philippines during last month’s culmination of the Cooperative Month.

Glenn Garcia, the CDA regional director, during his message, described Misamis Oriental as the “parent” of most of the country’s largest cooperatives, referring to the province as the “bedrock of the cooperative movement.”

“Nahinomdom ko last year, dinhi pud ta nag uban-uban, niingon ko nga si Governor [Yevgeny] Bambi Emano himoon nato or gihimo nato nga Coop Champion,” Garcia said.

“Ug tungod ana kay consistent man gyud ang pang-gamhanan ni Governor Emano nga maka coop ang iyang pang gamhanan, ato na pud himoon ang Misamis Oriental sa iyahang pagdumana as the ‘Most Coop Friendly Province,’ he added.

Governor Yevegeny Emano, for his part, said he is willing to provide financial and technical assistance to the cooperatives of Misamis Oriental and Cagayan de Oro City.

“Sa kooperatiba, dili usa ra ang masapian. Kung mosaka ang kooperatiba, masapian apil ang myembro, dili usa ra ka tao ang makabenepisyo. I hope that we will continue to support the cooperatives,” Emano said.

Last October 29, the Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental celebrated the culmination of the Cooperative Month, featuring the “Lechon Festival,” in the Capitol Grounds.
