THE Province of Misamis Oriental has been declared free from Malaria and Filariasis diseases for about five years already, the capitol's daily press briefer reported on Thursday, September 20.

In a press statement, the capitol said the province is safe from these diseases since Governor Yevgeny Emano sat as the province's top official.

The province recently received an award from the Department of Health (DOH) for the capitol's campaign against these diseases. Emano received the award during the flag raising rites at the Capitol last Monday.

The award is given to local government units that are serious in its health care programs for its constituents.

Emano said the recognition is attributed to the provincial health office for its efforts in carrying out effectively the programs and health services of the Provincial Government.

"Kini nagpasabot nga sa 23 ka munisipyo ug 2 ka syudad sa lalawigan, gamay ra ang nahulog sa gitawag nga 'endemic areas' kung asa ana nga mga lugara adunay kaso sa malaria," the capitol said.

The governor has assured that the people of the province will receive the best and quality health care services even as he directed the provincial health office to accommodate health-related concerns of every Misamisnon.

Emano has allocated over P500 million for health next year including funds for the eight hospitals of the province and Misamis Oriental Care System.
