THE Misamis Oriental Provincial Hospital-Balingasag will be closed down for 14 days starting July 31, 2020, for disinfection and quarantine of close contacts employees, Covid-19 Task Force Chief Dr. Jerie Calingasan reported.

This was after the aforementioned provincial hospital recorded three new confirmed coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases involving administrative personnel.

According to Calingasan, no doctors, nurses nor other medical/healthcare personnel were infected by the virus. Patients were also transferred to other provincial hospitals in Misamis Oriental where their continued treatment and isolation are ensured.

Calingasan said contact tracing has been conducted. He also assured the public that the Provincial Task Force and the local government unit of Balingasag are doing their best to contain the virus following the established action plan among the committees created to address local transmission.

As of July 30, Misamis Oriental has recorded 64 confirmed cases, of which 30 are locally stranded individuals, 28 are returning overseas Filipino workers, three are Authorized Persons Outside Residence and three are local cases.

Out of the 64 cases, there are 46 active cases, 17 recovered Covid-19 patients, and one death.
