Oro mayor pleads not guilty to graft

PJ Orias

CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno pleaded not guilty during his arraignment Friday, December 7, to 13 graft cases filed against him before the Sandiganbayan.

Lawyer Dale Mordeno, the mayor's legal counsel, said these graft cases pertain to Moreno's involvement in the lease of heavy equipment without public bidding when he was still governor of Misamis Oriental.

"This is all of Mayor Moreno's Capitol cases. He was arraigned for his 13 cases while the other 7 cases were arraigned last month," Mordeno said.

"This arraignment is just continuation of the arraignment of the Capitol cases, wala man gud nadungan," he added.

Last month, the Sandiganbayan 2nd Divison held its arraignment here in the city.

The 2nd Division is composed of Justice Lorifel Pahinma, acting chair; and Justices Bayani Jacinto and Kevin Narce Vivero, members.
