CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy is reminding the local police to step up security measures of the city, especially since more Kagay-anons are out of their homes to shop for Christmas.

On December 6, the City Government, led by Uy, launched the Festival of Lights, an annual Christmas lighting at the City Hall and Gaston Park. Together with him were the 20th City Council, headed by Vice Mayor Jocelyn "Bebot" Rodriguez.

The city mayor also reminded the public to keep themselves safe during the celebration of the Christmas season.

Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) Director Colonel Aaron Mandia, for his part, said they have not received and threats. However, the city police will continue monitoring security of the city and increase police visibility.

Mandia said around 50 regional police personnel will serve as augmentation force to secure the busy streets in the city as well as areas where people tend to converge.

"Mag ingat po tayo para this coming 2023, masaya tayo at ligtas," he added.
