Peso nixes suspected illegal recruiter in MisOr

Sunnexdesk

THE Public Employment Services Office (Peso) in Cagayan de Oro, entrapped an alleged illegal recruiter, with the assistance of arresting authorities on Friday, April 12, for victimizing six people from Claveria town, Misamis Oriental.

This after six persons from Claveria almost fell into the trap of an illegal recruiter who promised them instant jobs abroad.

Kathleen Kate Sorilla, Peso-Cagayan de Oro, identified the illegal recruiter as Maricel Jorigue, 34, also from the said town.

Sorilla said Jorigue’s style of luring victims is by inviting people to work in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. She said the suspect usually does the recruitment in fast food chains.

Sorilla said she is using the names of three licensed recruitment agencies to lure people. But when Sorilla checked, the agencies denied they were in any way connected to Jorigue.

Peso reminds the public to check first if the recruiter has Special Recruitment Authority from its office or from the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA).

Sorilla said recruitment should only occur inside the Peso or the POEA office. Outside office meetings require a Peso officer to be present. (PJ Orias)
