THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced the completion of the new Masiu Bridge in Masiu, Lanao del Sur province.

DPWH Northern Mindanao director Zenaida Tan reported that the 95-linear meter bridge was constructed to replace the old and weak Masiu Bridge along Lake Lanao Circumferential Road.

The bridge will facilitate safer and better travel for residents as the department upgraded the bridge according to the latest design standards.

“The new Masiu Bridge can withstand high magnitude earthquakes,” said Director Tan.

The P142-M bridge replacement project also includes the construction of upstream slope protection, gabions, riprap, and concreting of bridge approaches. (PIA-Northern Mindanao)
