PJ Orias

A TAXI driver was wounded after being hit by a stray bullet in a shooting incident Wednesday night, January 8, 2020, in Barangay Bugo, Cagayan de Oro City.

The victim was identified as Omar Delas Alas, 48, a resident of the said barangay.

Police said two unidentified gunmen on board a motorcycle targeted and shot a certain Christian Tacastacas, who was able to evade.

The stray bullet hit Delas Alas. He sustained a graze from the bullet and is now safe.

Cagayan de Oro Police Officer Major Ivan Viñas said Tacastacas might have been targeted for his previous offenses, which include illegal drugs and theft.

"Naa siguro nasuko niya kay hilabtunon daw ni si Tacastacas," he said.

(Somebody might have been mad because some claimed Tacastacas was a meddler.)

Police are now conducting a hot pursuit operation to arrest the suspects.

Meanwhile, Viñas asked the public for cooperation, particularly those who witnessed the shooting incident.
